The product is well made but these shoes run huge.
Anonymous –
order at least half a size smaller. I wear 8.5 in all other keen shoes. These were way too big.
Anonymous –
I bought these shoes based on the other reviews and I am very disappointed. They are not only too small but too narrow to even get my foot in even though I ordered a wide width.
Ms –
It was a sad day when I could not even get my foot into the shoe. This shoe has a webbing of some sort that does not let you open the laces to pull the tongue back to insert the foot. The shoe was a size wide but that webbing did not let my foot go into the shoe for nothing with much force as I tried and thinner sock…nothing. Be careful on the webbing

Been a fan of Keen Shoes for many years. This is my first pair of Keens with the carbon/composite toe. Was not sure if that was gonna work for me, however, it did. These shoes are heavier than my regular Keens but much lighter than steel toe shoes. I wore them last night for my shift and the shoes felt great! And I dropped a package on my foot and that carbon toe protected my feet. So now I got comfort, great style/color, and protection all in one shoe!

I have always loved the Keen brand the fit is always perfect out of the box. I am now working in a warehouse and am on my feet for my entire shift. I needed a pair of shoes that would protect my feet. My new Keen utility work shoes are perfect!!! I have worn them for 3 shifts so far and my feet feel great. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I’m a big fan of Keens, and these are GREAT safety shoes. They’re roomy enough for thick socks and my orthotics, and the big toebox helps me exercise my toes when I’m on my feet for 10 hours. My employer endorsed them as appropriate safety footwear. Doesn’t get much better!

Very confortable I’ve read others review and base on that, I order half size up my size. I got my shoe wide, perfect fit. I love the dar color make the shoe look clean even though I use it mostly everyday etc. I love how the shoes fill. You most use the shoes consecutive days to get use to put it in, do to the elastic well putting the shoes. The best working shoes I’ve gotten I would recommend it to anyone. If you have wide feet just buy half size up your size that’s my best advice.

My first order was not true to size. I went half a size up and it was perfect. The shoes are super high quality. Stiffer than regular tennis shoes but they are built for work.

Great work shoe for me.

I needed something that would be good for my plantar fasciitis. I was looking for something w/ good arch support, wide toebox, and would allow me to put in my own orthotics/inserts too. These shoes are all that and more. They have excellent arch support. The toebox is great! It def has space. Your toe does not rub up against anything. I can’t feel the carbon fiber toe above my feet due to the space. My foot lays flat in the shoe as it should. I walked around in my house w/ them and i felt fine. They also have superb traction. They disperse water well too but i didn’t test that yet. Judging on how great the traction felt, i’m sure they will not disappoint in wet conditions either. I have not yet inserted my own inserts either.
One very important key feature for me is flexibility. THESE SHOES FLEX! They flex like a non-comp toe sneaker would. I work at Amazon and i am always working in multiple critical roles such as waterspidering, staging, problem solve, etc. I am always bending mostly on the ball of my foot where my heel is off the ground, so i need a shoe that is gonna bend with me. These shoes do that and they do it very well. I can bend in them like i would normally in non-comp toe shoe.
They’re lightweight at 1lb 2oz. They don’t feel clunky. They’re not as heavy as most comp toe’s are. They’re actually made/recommended for warehouse work as stated on Keen’s website. They are also based off the foot of a female, so you know you’re getting a true female fitting shoe when you buy these.
I have never worn Keen but after trying these on, i may consider buying Keen brand for my next pair of sneakers as I need to replace them too. Before buying these, i checked out a lot of reviews as well as the ones posted below and YouTube. I never got to try them on in store before ordering as i prefer to do that, but i’m happy that upon arrival they seem like they’re going to work out for me. However, I have not yet put them thru an amazon shift. I will update my review once i do. Keen has always had a great reputation and my podiatrist has always recommended them. Now i can see why.
This purchase was covered partially by Amazon. I did end up paying the difference which was only $15.71. Even if Amazon didn’t cover the cost, I would totally pay the $140 – they are worth it. I am confident that they will work out for me. Time will tell but i will update my review once i put them thru at least a shift or two.
Also, some of the below reviews stated due to the webbing the shoe has, they couldn’t pull back the tongue or get their foot into the shoe. When mine arrived, i see what those reviewers were referring to as the tongue does not pull back like it would on a sneaker. HOWEVER, all you need to do is loosen up the laces (all of them), then hold the heel loop w/ one hand, and the tongue w/ your other hand. Once you loosen up the laces, the tongue will loosen up to where you CAN get your foot in the shoe w/ no problem. Then just pull your laces back through. Honestly i think the webbing is there as an extra security feature. It feels like a secure hold, like your foot won’t slip out. I honestly like how it feels. For my fasciitis feet, it’s a great feature b/c anyone w/ fasciitis issues NEEDS that security. I don’t feel like my feet are locked in cement, however i do feel very sure footed and secure and like it is just a little added security/protection for my feet. Honestly when i tried them on, i didn’t even feel like i needed to tie the laces. I did tie the laces though. I did not tie them tight and my feet felt fine. I didn’t ever slip out of the shoes. I honestly think Keen could make this model laceless/slip on (like merrell’s/oxford style slip on). But please don’t let the reviews talking about the webbing issues prevent you from trying this shoe b/c honestly these shoes are great. The only negative things i read about this shoe was the webbing, but if you do what i suggested – you’re fine.

These shoes rubbed the top of my feet raw. I couldn’t wait to take them off at the end of the day. The upper part of the shoe is extremely stiff especially where the shoe creases. Never had any issues with any keens, except these. I do not recommend.

I really like the fit of these shoes. I adjusted the laces and had no trouble getting my foot into the shoe. The toe box is generous, which I like. There is no rubbing of the stiff carbon fiber on any of my toes. The footbed supports my foot nicely. Best of all the heel pain I was experiencing working on a cement floor for 5 hours is going away!

I purchased the KERN utility flint 1 spirt sneaker. I bsolutely swear that these sneakers are so comfortable, stylish, and true to size. I have trouble buying footwear due to multiple toe surgeries. I was amazed that they fit so well. I love the elastic style band around the ankle and foot. It’s a really cool feature, not allowing a foreign object into the shoe, as well as the top laces fitting into a little loop to keep from slipping out. For a steel toe sneaker, I’m amazed how it feels to walk effortlessly in them. It’s so nice to just put them on and not have foot or toe pain. Thank you Zappos, for a wonderful product. By the way, I purchased a pair of UGH boots several years ago which are still holding up like the first day. Love them too. ?

If purchasing these shoes, I would recommend going down 1/2 size if you are wearing socks that are not thick. I love the look of the shoes. They are the type of shoes that don’t look like work shoes. They will serve their purpose of protecting my feet. The only complaints I have is the heaviness of the shoes and the difficulty getting the shoes on and off because they are so stiff.

As perfect as a work shoe could be. Wore them right out of the box. No breaking in period. I want to have a second pair to wear for working around the house. I’d be really interested in a boot version of these. Glad I have them.

I wore them for only one shift at Amazon, Bos5, and never wore them again. They scraped my heals up so badly, I ended up with two infected blisters.
Kasey –
Best. Work. Shoe. Ever! They came out of the box ready to go—no break-in period needed. You barely notice the toe box, unless you’re thinking about it and are like—wait, where is it, let me wiggle—oh, it’s up there. lol They’re not as light as sneakers, but not heavy like work boots. That is the point, right? I don’t usually leave reviews, but these are the bomb. I will most definitely order them again.
Oh, another thing: sometimes I have trouble with shoes because since I had a baby, I went from a reliable 9.5 to a mess. I never know if I’ll need a 10, or sometimes I need a 10.5. One time I had to buy a size 11 in a shoe I liked because they ran THAT small. (Feel the eye roll there.) I was super nervous, but I ordered 10 wide in these Keens. Freaking perfect fit! For reference, my favorite New Balance sneakers are a 10 standard. So, I hope that helps.

I really wanted to like these. I am required to wear a steel or composite toe shoe at work, and these didn’t do it for me. They were extremely uncomfortable from the second I put them on. For comparison, I wear the Merrell Work Moab Vertex Mid everyday. I found this shoe to be much less flexible, which I did not expect considering this has the elastic around the ankle. And where the shoe upper stops and the elastic starts dug into my ankle, I would not have lasted in these if I tried to wear them for one shift. I also have more narrow feet, based on others reviews I was hoping these would trend slightly narrow and hug my foot more than other shoes with safety toes. The opposite was actually true for me, I found these were much wider and clunkier than my Merrell’s, these actually looked slightly like a clown shoe with the over pronounced toe. Keen is such an awesome brand, but I’ll stick with my Merrell’s for work.

My first pair of Keens. My husband loves this brand so thought I would give them a try. This was not the shoe for me. Roomy toe box but a very wide fit for my feet. Almost clownish. I have never had blisters or corns on my feet before. After wearing this shoe I sustained blisters on my heal and toes. Lost three toenails because of the loose fit. Very ridged weighty shoe just not the one for me.

I work 10-11 hour shifts in the Amazon Fullfillment Center located in Colorado Springs, CO. Since Amazon essentially pays for your work shoes, it would be to your benefit to take advantage of the cooperative arrangement that Amazon and Zappos has to get you good quality work shoes.
Overall, the length and size of the Keen’s were great but there was a lot of room in the toe box (in part because I ordered a wide width.) Originally, I ordered Medium width but they were too tight. I normally wear a 6.5 but went up half a size based on review recommendations. So, I chose a 7 in the Wide Width. To compensate for the extra room, I separately purchased a pair of Dr. Scholl’s Gel Insoles for Work Shoes. Those made all the difference. There are pull loops on the heel and on the tongue of the shoe that you NEED to use because there is a built-in liner for the shoes.
Take care of your shoes and they’ll take care of your feet!! They’ll last quite a while if you treat them well. Don’t just kick them off. Take the time to take them off. Put them in your locker at work. Between home and work, wear your normal street shoes. Keep your work shoes for work only. Pavement and outdoor concrete will wear them down before their time.

I normally have to stretch shoes to accommodate my bunions. These shoes fit perfect right out of the box. I substituted my superfeet insoles and they are even better. I ordered another pair to have on hand when the first pair wear out.

Excellent shoe for where you need extra support, traction, & protection for your toes. Exchanging half size down, forgot that Keen sizing is a bit larger. I have wide, flat feet & have trouble finding shoes. These are lightweight, supportive, & look really nice. As for the tongue/ foot entry complaints, just loosen & reposition the laces as suggested in other reviews. These shoes will stay put & keep you steady. A few extra seconds is less inconvenient than a sprained ankle or fall.

My first composite shoe for 12 hour shifts in an Amazon FC. I wear a size 10 in women. Fit is true to size. Lately I’ve been walking up to 14miles a shift and I don’t have to worry about my toes with all the Hazards of an FC. I did swap out the insole because the manufacturer insole it came with is not all that.
These shoes have a high back that requires longer socks that cover over your ankle. Otherwise your back leg will hurt.
They’re not for style but if you drop a tote on your toes your protected.

I work a 12hr shift, and these are well suited for it. Things you may want to consider:
1) these have a “webbed” ankle – so they pull on your sock getting into them. This means that if you have room in your sock in the toe, it will pull all that material back and under which will increase friction. So you need to have form fitting socks. If you have a small foot, meaning no socks truly fit, expect for the heel portion of your sock to be partially out of the shoe.
2) The back loop you can pull on, one of my front loops snapped the third day.
3) The plus to the webbed ankle is that leaving the shoes unlaced as you break them in is easy – I’m on my third week of wearing and I haven’t bothered to lace them yet. Snug fit. (keep in mind I do minimal walking – if I walked for my work, I’d be lacing them now for speed)
4) I took everyone’s advice and ordered a half size up. Good advice; they fit perfectly at the end of the shift.
5) Do look up how to measure your width so you can get the correct width size. Don’t guesstimate.
6) They have decent arch support, but very little in the way of lateral support. So I will be getting inserts as I shift from left to right in my work. People with high arches (such as myself) will want to add a bit to their support, but not much.
Pleased with my purchase.
